Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. When she was just five years old when she left for Oxfordshire and went to the Dragon School. Emma was inspired to be an actor at age six. For several years she was at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing as well as dancing, and also acting. By the time she turned 10 Emma was a participant in a variety of Stagecoach productions as well as school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the movie version from J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel premiered for the first for the first time on January 1, 1999. Emma was found by agents through the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. After eight consistent auditions producers David Heyman told Emma and the other candidates Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were selected for the roles of three of the leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the big screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. It also was the most profitable film in the year 2001. Its opening Saturday and Sunday ticket sales were record breaking. Reviewers have been highly acclaimed of the film as well as the performances of its three major young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a frequently read British publication, gave Emma high marks for her impressive performance. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in an Feature Film. Emma was nominated five times for her work in the film.
