Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21 1982. She is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Following the divorce of her parents her parents separated, she moved to Worthington in Ohio and moved at Los Angeles. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite financial struggles it was possible to land her first major part in the web-based video series Rachel's Room playing the lead character. The film for television Murder in Greenwich that she appeared in, where she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. In 2004 Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost where she was the main character for the initial two seasons winning an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace quit the show in 2005 to pursue a more significant role in films, having appeared opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) in Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised the role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played Shannon again in Lost's finale and in two additional episodes. Grace appeared in Californication's 6th season, which aired from 2013 until 2014. She portrays Faith who's both an avid stargazer as well as a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She is a member of the Gyllenhaal clan as well as the younger sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first appearances were in the films of her father as an adolescent. Along with her brother, she was also on the screen in Donnie Darko (2000). Then she appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win an Golden Globe Award in both the romantic comedy Sherrybaby (2005) and in the love story Secretary (2002). The two films received acclaim from critics. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008, following many highly successful movies, such as World Trade Center (2006), brought Gyllenhaal greater fame. She was nominated for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mother as she appeared in Crazy Heart. She subsequently starred in the comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (2012). Her other roles include a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in the film Frank (2014) and the title role in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal began her career as director, screenwriter and script writer. she directed and wrote her psychological horror film The Lost Daughter. The film won Best Screenplay at the Venice International Film Festival, and it was nominated by the Academy Award.
